// Qualified to lead
Each Adventureworks Expedition is lead by experienced and qualified professionals. Often these are Mountain Guides, Mountaineering Instructors or International Mountain Leaders who will have experience leading youth expeditions as well as a wealth of personal experience in the expedition environment.

Your leader will be fully involved in your pre-expedition training, meeting participants and parents at your school and running your training weekend. Our leaders also hold a current mountain first aid certificate and have experience of dealing with the symptoms of acute mountain sickness and other altitude related illnesses.

Leadership qualifications
The vast majority of our leaders are members of professional organisations including the British Mountain Guides (BMG), Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI), the British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML) and the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres (AHOEC).

Each of these organisations has a professional code of conduct and standards that complement our own. Our expedition leaders hold professional qualifications attained through rigorous training and assessment with these bodies. Qualifications include the International Union of Associations of Mountain Guides (IFMGA), Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC) and International Mountain Leader (IML). To attain these qualifications requires many years of training. All our leaders have received a CRB check.
