The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
In recent years, Gold Award participants have completed expeditions to Nepal, India, Ecuador, Peru and Morocco, as well as the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia, the Pyrenees, Corsica and Eire.

For groups seeking support in delivering the Expedition section of the Award, we are able to provide qualified and experienced trainers, supervisors and assessors to work with your group at your school or a base on the moors and hills. These individuals can help you with your expedition skills training, such as expedition planning, navigation, campcraft and emergency procedures. Adventureworks can also assist groups with Practice and Qualifying Expeditions and Gold Residential courses.

Adventureworks has so far helped over 1,000 participants complete sections of their Bronze, Silver or Gold expeditions by foot, cycle and canoe, across many parts of the UK and Europe.

Gold Residential Courses
Adventureworks runs, in conjunction with Thornbridge Outdoor Centre, Green Action week at the centre. This practical 5-day course will provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of conservation skills in dry stone walling, woodland management and working with willow.During the week you will also experience outdoor activities such as caving, climbing, abseiling, high ropes and mountain biking.

Case Study: Westholme School Peru
In July 2006, students from Westholme School completed a challenging trek in South Peru circumnativating the Nevado Ausangate mountain range.

18 months preperation went in to the expedition when the girls researched the destintation, planned routes, raised funds and got fit!

Their expedition route took them over high passes, past snow capped peaks and eventually to the summit of El Misti (5,800m). The group also visited Machu Picchu and the Colca Canyon (one of the deepest canyons in the world), travelled through the jungles of Puerto Maldonado and lived and worked with a local community.
