Derbyshire Youth Exploration Group (DYEG) is a reputable, responsible organisation, which has been giving young adults the opportunity for personal growth and development through exploration since 1967. All they ask is that you live in Derbyshire, go to school or college in the county, and you're able to raise the funds (with their support and ideas of course!). Oh, and that you're ready for the time of your life . .
Take an amazing trip down the Atlantic Coast of Morocco on horseback for 7 days and then hiking up into the beautiful Siroua Mountains of the Anti-Atlas.
We will arrive in Morocco, this Muslim land rich in mystique, in Merrakech – with its open air markets, the scent of spices and it’s ochre coloured walls. Having been comprehensively briefed and kitted up, the team then heads to the famous fishing port of Essaouira to collect our horses and head south past Diabet for seven days along the Atlantic Coast. Supported by experienced raft guides, we follow the historic trip down the coast through eucalyptus and mimosa forests, along immense deserted beaches to finally reach Imessouane.
We head up into the Anti Atlas and trek through the historic villages of Tislit, Tizwat and Tamzirt in along spectacular gorges, incredible mountain passes and volcanic scenery.
The cost of this trip will be £1995 for a 17 day trip, all inclusive of flights, transfers, food, horses and in country guides.
There will be plenty of support to raise funds, and we are planning to have some skills training, orientation and familiarisation weekends in 2010/11 to prepare the adventurous team.
