Season – July - August
Duration– 21 - 28 day expeditions
The 'Tibet of the Americas', Bolivia is a beautiful high-altitude country, rich in culture and little known apart from the famous Lake Titicaca. It is often described as one of South America's best-kept secrets. All our expeditions visit Lake Titicaca and camp on the Isle del Sol before trekking to the mountains. Trekking expeditions spend seven days walking through some stunning scenery in the Nevado Illampu range. Several high passes are crossed including the Paso Calzada, which is the highest point of our trek at 5,045m.
If you want to climb a mountain there, you can choose from Point Austria (5,000m), Piramide Blanca (5,230m) or Tarija (5,060m). All of these peaks provide excellent, technically straightforward climbs, which are achievable by groups with basic ice axe and crampon skills.
A trekking or mountaineering expedition to Bolivia will give you the chance to meet the indigenous Indian people, as well as the descendants of the Spanish Conquistadors. It is also possible to visit the Pampas to explore this water-filled jungle with its unusual flora and fauna and explore the Inca ruins of Pilco Kaima.
