// India
India, 4 kbSeason – June - September
Duration– 15 - 28 day expeditions

Our expeditions visit Ladakh, in the far northernmost corner of India, on the edge of the great Himalayan Range. We fly to Delhi and spend some time in the heat, humidity, hustle and bustle, before an internal flight to the cooler and more relaxed climate of Leh, the ancient capital of Ladakh. Leh has a regal air, with its 'Potala-like' palace, traditionally dressed Ladakhi people and Tibetan community.

We offer a choice of treks to either the Markha Valley or Nubra Valley. The Markha Valley Trek travels through the rugged Zanskar Mountains and crosses high passes, including the Kongmaru La (5,100m), which provides far-reaching views north to the hills of the Eastern Karakoram and China. During the trek we stay in ancient farming villages, with irrigated fields and beautiful, old monasteries. Previous Adventureworks groups have climbed Stok Kangri (6,121m), a challenging trekking peak in the area. It is also possible to include a day's rafting on the Zanskar River in the programme. The Nubra Valley, north of Leh, used to be a popular trading route between Yarkand and Leh. It is a simply stunning landscape, which until recently was out of bounds, due to its proximity to Pakistan.

Most of our expeditions to India also visit schools in Leh, spending a day or more with pupils, playing sport and taking part in other activities such as singing, dance and art. At the end of the expedition, we have a day trip to Agra to see one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.

You can see photo's from previous expeditions in our photo gallery and also read about previous expeditions in our trip reports.
