Season – Year round
Duration– 10 - 14 day expeditions
North Africa's most popular travel destination, Morocco is an easy hop from Europe. Although Morocco is rapidly modernising, with reliable transport links and communications in the larger towns, the remote Berber villages and Bedouin encampments in the countryside continue to function as they have done for hundreds of generations. This distinct contrast between the new and the old can surprise visitors and makes for a rewarding and memorable experience.
Expeditions fly direct to Marrakech, justifiably famous for its fascinating souks (markets), bazaars and the lively Djemma el-Fna Square. From Marrakech, teams travel by road, either to the mountains around Djebel Toubkal (which at 4,165m is the highest point in Northern Africa) or, further south, to the Djebel Saghro range. Both areas offer trekking journeys across colourful mountain landscapes, which have the advantage of being accessible all year round.
In addition to trekking, previous groups have travelled out to the Sahara Desert for a two-day camel trek and enjoyed some rest and relaxation at the coastal resort of Essaouira. Adventureworks has links with several schools in Morocco and we can arrange for you to meet with the youngsters for a day (a good opportunity to practice French), or we can organise a longer project.
