Season – June - September
Duration– 21 - 28 day expeditions
Peru is bounded to the north by Ecuador and Colombia, to the east by Brasil
and Bolivia and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. Peru is geographically diverse, made up of stunning mountainous regions, Amazonian jungle and a desert strip running between the coast and the mountains. The Peruvian Andean mountains
are arguably the most beautiful and accessible on the continent and have become world famous among trekkers, hikers and mountaineers.
The mountains are not just spectacular geographically, but are home to millions of highland Indians who still speak their ancient languages of Quechua and Ayamara and preserve their vibrant, colourful and traditional ways of life.
Expeditions to Peru can trek via the Inca Trail to the mysterious city of Machu Picchu, in the heart of the mighty Inca Empire, circumnavigate the stunning peak Nevado Ausangate or visit the Colca Canyon, where condors (the worlds heaviest flying bird) fly . We also have groups who climb the 5,822m volcano, El Misti. Further north in the, Cordillera Blanca, teams can trek the Santa Cruz Trail or circumnavigate the Cordillera Huayhuash and ascend Pisco (5,752m). There is also the opportunity to visit the jungles of Puerto Maldonado and spend time living and working with a local community.
