// Slovakia
Slovakia, 5 kbSeason – June-August and January-March
Duration– 10 to 14 day expeditions

Since Czechoslovakia divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the early nineties, the latter has seen very little cultural change, with much of its folk traditions remaining intact. The Mala Fatra National Park stretches 50km across north-west Slovakia and has a network of footpaths linking mountain huts and campsites, limestone gorges, forests and rivers. The mountains are covered in clusters of spruces, dwarf pines with Alpine green meadows, rocks and snowfields. There are approximately 1300 species of plants and an abundance of animal wildlife including Chamois, Marmot, Brown Bear, Lynx, Eagle and Wolf. In the winter, the Mala Fatra becomes a popular ski destination.

We offer expeditions in both summer and winter, with a range of activities from trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking, rafting and gorge walking in summer, to skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing and ice climbing in winter.

We fly to the capital city, Bratislava, where groups have the chance to visit its hill-top castle, the city's numerous museums, explore its narrow streets full of old and interesting shops and walk along the banks of the Danube, before flying home.

You can see photo's from previous expeditions in our photo gallery and also read about previous expeditions in our trip reports.
