Season – June - September
Duration– 14 days expeditions
A land of contrasts, Turkey combines a rich historic background with dramatic mountainous and coastal landscapes and modern cities. It is located on the Eastern Mediterranean and shares borders with some eight countries. Part-European, part-Middle Eastern, Turkey is a crossroads for ideas, beliefs and cultures.
This unique trek in the Aladaglar Mountains of Turkey provides an excellent introduction to this beautiful and relatively undiscovered part of the world.
The team will make its' way to the holy city of Konya in central Turkey. A visit to this interesting city will be followed by a journey further south into the Aladaglar region of the Taurus Mountains, where the trek will start. The following days will take the group on a journey by sparkling lakes, around stark limestone formations and over mountain passes before making an ascent to the summit of Mt Emler at 3723m.
Following the trek there is the opportunity to visit the unusual Derinkuyu, an underground city, before heading on to Cappadocia. We will have a day to explore this lunar-type landscape pitted with small volcanic craters, barren plateaus and steep jagged cliffs, as well as its' surrounding area with a possibility to have an famous Turkish bath!
