News for March 2007

Sheffield fundraising lecture (15th Mar)
[Andy Kirkpatrick, 2 kb]King Edward VII School is proud to present Andy Kirkpatrick and Alastair Lee for an evening of entertaining illustrated talks at Sheffield Hallam University.

Andy has been described as one of the funniest of Britain’s top mountaineers and will be speaking with Alastair Lee, producer of the award winning films “Twice upon a time in Bolivia” and “Set in Stone”. Both speakers have kindly agreed to help raise money for the School’s expedition this summer to Kyrgyzstan.

The schools expedition will venture in to the Tien Shan Mountains with the goal of summiting one of the unclimbed 4000m peaks in the area.

The lecture will take place on Thursday 19th April 7pm at Sheffield Hallam University in the 'Heart of the Campus'. Tickets are £10 and concessions £7, available from lecture@kes.sheffield.sch.uk

Pre expedition weekends (14th Mar)
[Trekking through the snow in the Cairngorms, 19 kb]The majority of our teams are now completing their pre-expedition weekends in preparation for the summer. We have had groups in Scotland practising winter skills, others at Thornbridge learning the values of team work on the low ropes and sky ropes and even groups spending the night in hammocks in preparations for the jungle! You can see photos of many of these weekends on our photo gallery.
