Report nameBritish School of Paris Alpine Adventure
Date submittedJun-10

This was the third consecutive year that the British School of Paris have based their Year 9 Activity week with Adventureworks in the Ecrin. From their base in a hostel in Pelvoux the group of 54 students and 6 staff enjoyed a week of activities in this beautiful part of the Alps that boasts 300 days sunshine a year. Only on one morning was it wet and by mid-day the sun was shining.

Over 5 days the group faced the challenges of rafting down the Durance river, flying over the Durance gorge on a zip wire and the challenge of a via ferrata above the river. They also rock climbed on some of the regions crags high above green alpine meadows. Finally they went on a two day expedition to the Glacier Blanc hut, spend the night above 2000m, learn the skills of walking with crampons on their boots and with ice axe in hand exploring the nearby glacier.

Apart from the activities the group learnt much about living together and working as a team throughout the week, supporting each other
